0f Criminals and Corruption

“If situation demands I will throw another 5000 corrupt persons from helicopter in the sea” stated Rodrigue Duterte, the President of Philippines. Thisis in continuation of his earlier dynamic actions initiated against the drug traffickers and the drug addicts. Some 5000 drug addicts & the cohorts have been gun down by the law – enforcing authorities of the Philippines. So many activists of humanitarian & human rights organizations were very much critical about the inhuman stern actions taken by the Philippines authority. The President reiterated that the action taken against the criminals were taken only to save the humanity in the face of inhuman activities carried out by the criminals. He further emphasized that more severe actions are in the offing against the corrupt personnel in the government. This is a sort of warning for the corrupt servants in the state.
Philippines is a country consisting of 300,000 sq.kilometer with 10,09,81,437population under constant threat from the south by the Muslim minority of the Moro headed by Nuruddin, the rebel Muslim leader. Philippines were once ruled by the Muslims for nearly 200 hundred years & still they apprehend the upheaval of the Muslims concentrated in the southern region. The other ethnical minorities in the country are:Visayan(33.6%),Tagalog(27.7%),Ilocano(9.8%), Moro (5.1%)Bicolano(6.8%), Kapampangan(3.1%), Chinese(1.2%),Zamboanguero(1.1%),Others(6.8%).The condition of the ethnical minority groups in Philippinesis unlike other ethnical minority particularly that of Myanmer. In Myanmer the ethnical minorities are jingoistic in nature & ferocious to grab the power through arm struggle. They produce poppies, marijuana, hashish to manufacture drugs to contrary, the minorities in the Philippines are docile in nature & consumers of drugs produced innearby countries preferably fromMyanmer& Thailand. The government of Duterte is determined to make the country free from the vices of drug, corruption and unlicensed gambling. He has accordingly waged a war against all these vices.
The present scenario obtaining in Bangladesh is no better than the Philippines or Thailand. If the situation is allowed to continue unabated millions more people are likely to take to drugs in addition to present few millions. It should be arrested right now to keep the social bondage and the balance in the functioning of the state. Already so many lapses in respect of so many important issues have been allowed to go unattended & unpunished by this time. But nothing goes unnoticed in the eyes of the public. Particularly people of Bangladesh are much more alert politically, socially & culturally. Let us not forgetthe consequences of the totalitarian administration & of the patronization of corruption ridden society during the H.M.Ershad regime.
