Maks Renewable Energy Co. ltd has started its journey in 2009 as a system integrator towards renewable energy and focusing in the areas of Solar Home System, Solar roof top system, solar irrigation pump system, wind mapping, and Bio-gas. We are working with renewable energy nearly 10 years. MRECL is a partner organization of IDCOL for Solar and Bio-Gas Program said Nessar Maksud Khan managing director of MAKS group and vice president of Bangladesh Solar and Renewable Energy Association.
However, 40% or 50% of general people in the country used electricity in 2002. World Bank and IDCOL started Solar Home System. At present 45 lakhs families included in Solar Home System in Bangladesh. All over the world 10 million people using this among them 45 lakhs in Bangladesh. Less than 50% area of our country has grid connection. Remaining areas are still in dark. Hence, seven years back IDCOL has introduced Solar Home System program with support from donor agencies to light up homes at off grid areas using solar power, so that life style of the people can be improved. The program has become extremely popular and successful. Until now over 1 million homes has been powered by Solar and it is growing at the pace of 50,000 homes per month.
Though solar use as back up in many place and only for home but at present solar is using in irrigation. Many industries are using roof top solar system. Our government also has a policy of net mitering processes like other countries. Here any one can save and sell energy.
Besides we are working for energy efficiency appliances. Improve cook store is another renewable system IDCOL works for the project. Over all we cannot depend on natural resources because it decreased day by day. We have to depend on renewable solar.
Bangladesh government has contract of 1000 mg with different organizations. Solar projects need huge space so it’s difficult to get land. If government acquires some land for project then we can improve more. Government also should take some policies for that investor become more interested.
