Diarrheal diseases are spreading across the Meherpur district for chill wind and cold wave. The worst sufferers are the children and old-aged people who have very less capacity to move and ability to fight against the menace. Sufferers said there are only 20 beds for cold-affected boys and girls and old aged people at the Hospital but the patients converged nearly 60 that is the symptom of the alarming condition of the areas. Oar saline is not found for its scarcity. Medicines stock has been vacant but patients and the attendants moving round to the doctors to have medicines. Finding no other alternative, the attendants go out to hospital for purchasing medicines and necessary materials. Locals said for one week the rise of diarrheal diseases has been increasing and the service rendering activities of the hospital have come to near halt. Taking limited resources and manpower the hospital is the hospital is now going out of order as its capacity is very little to provide as numbers of on onrush patients is very high. A guardian said the doctors are very busy to attend the inside patients who already have been admitted into beds of the hospital. In addition this duties, there is large numbers of other patients who are coming to outdoors to have treatment. If prescription found, there is no medicine to have for recovery. On duty doctors in most of the cases urge the patients to purchase medicine from markets. Usually the poor, ultra poor and extreme poor people are not ready to purchase medicine that leads them to deaths. Embracing death becomes a normal routine the worst sufferers told. On the contrary, the medicine traders sell medicine whatever they like and taking that medicine the patients become more ill. When contacted child specialist Dr Mrinal Kanti Mandal said the menace surfaced for virus so it is virus prone diseases. Washing hands, legs and annals are very important to resist the virus of the diseases. He advised all to have pure water so that the menace can be come under control. Mass consciousness is very urgent task to do. Meherpur General Hospital Superintendent Dr Ehsanul Kabir said we are trying to solve all problems so that the patients would not suffer more.
