DCCI, the largest and most active Chamber of the country, established in 1958, was incorporated under the companies Act, V11 of 1913 as a limited company on March 10, 1959. It serves as a model of non-profit, service-oriented organization. It has rendered more than four decades of very useful services for the development of business and industry in Bangladesh. It has four classes of membership: General, Associate, Town Association and Trade Group. The Chamber is run by a Board of Eighteen Directors representing all classes of membership. It has also eighteen standing committees. DCCI works on advocacy policy to solve the problems of business organization or entrepreneurs said Kamrul Islam, FCA Senior Vice President of DCCI.
He said DCCI has several projects such as Resource efficient supply Chain for metal products in Building Sector in South Asia METABUILD, Enhancing Export Capacities of Asian LDCs for Intra-regional Trade, DCCI Entrepreneurship & Innovation Expo, METI Global Internship Program in FY 2014, NTF III Bangladesh Project, Business Initiatives Leading Development BUILD and E2K.
The entrepreneur 2000 E2K project started from 2013 and main target of the project is make 2000 new entrepreneurs who can contribute themselves in business and industrial sectors. Their vision is to make 2000 new entrepreneurs in the year of 2021. E2k not only makes new entrepreneurs but also wants to support them for business loan for different bank. In 2013 to 2015 they trained up nearly 850 people. Among them twelve got bank facilities. They started several courses like Human Resource Development, Logistics Store and Inventory Management, Effective Business Communication in English, Branding and Marketing, How to Establish a New Business and more. They also want to arrange workshop in several universities and many districts across over the country. Their target is to make more three hundred new entrepreneurs at district level.
