(UNB) – Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday visited the residence of late Awami League leader ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury in the city and consoled his family members.
Party sources said when the motorcade of Sheikh Hasina reached Mohiuddin Chowdhury’s Chashma Hill residence in Sholoshahar area around 4 pm, his wife Hasina Mohiuddin, also Chittagong Mohila League President, his son and AL’s city organising secretary Mahibul Hasan Nawfel and his other family members received the PM.
During her visit, the Prime Minister announced to provide Tk 5,00,000 to each of the 10 families of those who have lost their lives in a stampede during the qulkhwani of Mohiuddin Chowdhury at Rima Convention Centre at Askar Dighirpar in the city on December 18.
Leaders and activists of Awami League and Chhatra League gathered on both sides of Asian Highway, from Agrabad to Sholosahar gate No 2, to welcome Sheikh Hasina, also the President of the ruling Awami League.
ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury, former Chittagong City mayor and city Awami League president, died on December 15 at the age of 73.
