Khadi, an elegant fabric which embodies the Bengali culture heritage in a mystical fashion, has been portrayed through the biggest fashion event of the year 2017 in Bangladesh, organised by the Fashion Design Council of Bangladesh (FDCB). The two-day event titled “FDCB Presents TRESemmé Khadi ‘The Future Fabric Show’” was held at the International Convention City Bashundara (ICCB) in the capital on Friday and Saturday. Khadi has been branded as a symbol of chivalry and revolution and it needs to be revived once again. So, for doing that, the fashion based on the Khadi fabric was introduced in the fashion event. This year, 19 Bangladeshi and 7 international designers showcased their work based on Khadi fabric. TRESemmé, one of the biggest global brands, is circling the globe with the prestigious fashion shows collaborated with the event and took the Khadi Fest to another level. The two-day show showcased 26 designers’ works, 13 works featuring each day. Began with inaugural speech and a video introduction on ‘Khadi and its Origin’, the event followed by segments of beautiful choreographed dance performance describing the chivalry and revolution side of Khadi and how it is infused with Bengali culture. The first 13 designers who have showcased their work on the first day are Shaibal Saha, Farah Anjum Bari Shah Rukh Amin, Chimmi Choden (Bhutan), Emdad Haque, Nawshin Khair, Afsana Ferdousi, Soumitra Mondal (India), Faiza Ahmed, Sarah Karim, Farah Diba, June Ngo (Malaysia), Rasna Shrestha (Nepal). On the second day, along with renowned designer and president of FDCB Maheen Khan, Chandana Dewan, Himanshu Shani (India), Biplob Saha, Kuhu, Sukeejit Danchai (Thailand), Lipi Khandokar, Maria Islam, Tenzing Chakama, Nelun Harasgavama (Sri Lanka) and Rupu Shams also presented their collections. Led by TRESemmé Bangldesh brand ambassador, Jannatul Peya, wearing the unique Khadi creations of the participating designers, the beautiful models walked the ramp to showcase the beauty of the fabric Khadi. Along with black and white pattern, the designers introduced colourful side of Khadi with multiple colours such as red, magenta, pestle blue and also floral patterns. The designers not only introduced traditional cloths like Sari, Veil, Salwar, and Panjabi but also they introduced modern clothing like Party wears, Gown, Skirts, Lawn and others. TRESemmé was the title sponsor of Khadi Fest. Besides, Ministry of Cultural Affairs and Bengal Group Ltd. were major contributors to the event, in association with IPAB (Intellectual Property Association of Bangladesh) and Senora. Inspired by Berger, the partners of the event include Maasranga television, Radio Shadhin, Canvas, Forethought PR, The Way Dhaka and Durk Air.
