Tourism is one of the worlds’ fastest growing industries. It entails activities and services associated with transportation, accommodation, food, shopping, entertainment and hospitality services available for the travelers. Tourism is a major source of income generation and foreign exchange earnings in many countries. It creates ample job opportunities and plays a pivotal role in country branding. With the advent of today’s globalization, immense technological advancement, socio-demographic factors and rapid urbanization, the tourism sector is changing fast. Bangladesh also a country with huge heritage sites like largest mangrove forest, Paharpur, hill tracks, floating market of Barisal, Cox’s Bazar and many others are our individual tradition said Md. Taslim Amin Director, Trade and Fair TOAB.
However we are developing the tourism sector facing different briars day by day. The percentage of inbound and outbound tourism is increasing. Nearly six thousand people going to India everyday from Bangladesh for different purpose. Our domestic tourism is also increasing from last ten years. People like to travel in holydays now.
Besides we have to work a lot to develop our tourism to reach international standard. Many private sectors already invested huge amount in this sector. So we have to explore inbound tourism. Governments of other countries are very much co-operative to improved tourism sector. If we see our neighboring countries can get the difference. Though Bangladesh government is very helpful to developed tourism industry and considering in vat and tax but others countries government are offering comparatively better than us.
So, we have to work together basically it’s a combination work of some ministries. Besides we should develop infrastructure of our heritage sites and also ensure transportation, accommodation, food, shopping, entertainment and hospitality services available for the travelers.
Meanwhile Md. Taslim Amin is related with tourism more than 10 years. He involved in both outbound and domestic tourism. He stared a luxury ship from December 2013 named M. V Flamingo Luxury Vessel which ply five months in Sundarban and six months in Dhaka.
