Body formed to probe ‘sexual harassment’ of IU student

The authorities of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia on Monday formed a three-member probe body to investigate the alleged sexual harassment of a girl student of by a teacher.

IU Vice-chancellor Professor Dr M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari formed

IU Business Administration Faculty Dean Professor Dr Arabinda Saha will head the body along with two other members–IU student advisor Professor Dr M Rezwanul Islam and Provost of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall Professor Dr Shahadath Hossain Azad.

The committee was asked to submit the report within 15 days, said IU acting Registrar SM Abdul Latif on Tuesday.

Legal steps would be taken after the getting the investigation report, he added.

A female student of Banking Department of the university alleged that Assistant Professor Sanjay Kumar Sarkar of the same department ‘sexually’ harassed her recently.
