One killed in anti-drug ‘shootouts’ with RAB in Dhaka

Man has been killed in alleged shootouts with RAB 4 in as part of the government’s nationwide anti-drug crackdown. The predawn shootouts took place in Dhaka said RAB 4 officials. Deceased was identified as Ibrahim, a ‘notorious drug dealer’ from Mirpur and Geneva Camp at Mohammadpur in the capital, said RAB 4 spokesman Mizanur Rahman. A patrol team of RAB 4 had put up a checkpoint at Mirpur’s Beribadh while RAB  4 members signalled some bikers coming towards them to stop, Rahman told journalist. “They didn’t stop but charged a bomb towards RAB 4 members, triggering a gunfight. The bikers fled, but the gunfight left Ibrahim wounded.” He was rushed to hospital and later doctors declared him dead. Weapons, bullets and a huge cache of drugs were recovered from the scene.
